Science Technician

Are you passionate about science and eager to support the next generation of budding scientists? We’re looking for an organized and proactive Science Technician to join a forward-thinking and inclusive school community with a strong commitment to innovation and academic excellence.

In this role, you’ll help set up engaging experiments, maintain equipment, and support teachers in delivering outstanding lessons that spark curiosity and a love of learning.

What you’ll be doing:

• Preparing, setting up, and clearing away laboratory equipment and materials for science lessons.
• Assisting teaching staff during practical lessons to ensure experiments run smoothly and safely.
• Maintaining, organizing, and ensuring the safe storage of laboratory apparatus and chemicals in line with health and safety regulations.
• Conducting regular checks on equipment, repairing or arranging replacements as needed.
• Supporting students during experiments, encouraging proper use of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
• Monitoring and managing stock levels of lab supplies, ordering new materials when required.
• Assisting in the development of new practical resources to enhance lesson delivery.
• Ensuring compliance with COSHH and other safety standards within the science department.

Requirements:

• Previous experience or a strong interest in working in a science-based environment.
• Up-to-date safeguarding training.
• A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Pay rate: £84 – £90 per day. If experienced, pay will increase.
