Science Technician

Are you passionate about science and eager to support the next generation of budding scientists? We’re looking for an organized and proactive Science Technician to join a forward-thinking and inclusive school community in Hastings, committed to innovation and academic excellence.

In this role, you’ll help set up engaging experiments, maintain equipment, and support teachers in delivering outstanding lessons that spark curiosity and a love of learning.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Preparing, setting up, and clearing away laboratory equipment and materials for science lessons.
• Assisting teaching staff during practical lessons to ensure experiments run smoothly and safely.
• Maintaining, organizing, and ensuring the safe storage of laboratory apparatus and chemicals in line with health and safety regulations.
• Conducting regular checks on equipment, repairing or arranging replacements as needed.
• Supporting students during experiments, encouraging proper use of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
• Monitoring and managing stock levels of lab supplies, ordering new materials when required.
• Assisting in the development of new practical resources to enhance lesson delivery.
• Ensuring compliance with COSHH and other safety standards within the science department.

Requirements:

• Previous experience or a strong interest in working in a science-based environment.
• Up-to-date safeguarding training.
• A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Pay Rate: £84 – £90 per day.
