Year Leader (Pastoral) – Full-Time, Permanent

A thriving secondary school in Eastbourne is seeking a dedicated and passionate Year Leader to join its pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator to take on a key leadership role, ensuring the academic success, welfare, and personal development of students within a designated year group.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for a year group, maintaining high standards of achievement, behaviour, and personal development.
  • Oversee pastoral initiatives to support student welfare, attendance, and engagement.
  • Work closely with staff, students, and parents to promote a culture of high expectations.
  • Monitor student progress and implement targeted interventions where necessary.
  • Lead and manage an Assistant Year Leader and tutor team, ensuring high-quality tutor time provision.
  • Collaborate with Curriculum Leaders to support student progress across all subjects.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through enrichment activities and whole-school initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Leadership Pay Scale (L5-9).
  • Experience in a pastoral or leadership role within a secondary setting.
  • Ability to teach Maths, Science, or PE is desirable.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Start date: 1st September 2025.
