About the Role:

We are seeking Support Mentors to work within schools and specialist provisions, supporting children and young people with SEMH needs. You will play a vital role in helping students feel heard, understood, and empowered—both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group mentoring to support emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement in learning

  • Help students develop social skills, self-confidence, and resilience

  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to support individual education and behaviour plans

  • De-escalate challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies

  • Build trusting relationships that support long-term emotional growth and educational progress

  • Support with structured classroom activities, break/lunch duties, and off-site interventions where needed

  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

What We’re Looking For:

  • A genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people

  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills

  • Resilience, patience, and emotional intelligence

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively as part of a team

  • An understanding of (or willingness to learn about) SEMH, trauma-informed practice, and behaviour management strategies

Experience in an educational setting is a bonus, but not essential.
