The school based in Hayward’s Heath caters specifically for boys with SEMH needs and associated challenges. The team is dedicated to delivering a holistic education that supports not just academic progress, but emotional growth and wellbeing. Pupils are supported within a calm, structured environment where relationships are at the heart of learning and development.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in helping pupils access learning, regulate their emotions and build confidence in themselves. You’ll work closely with teaching and therapy staff to support students on both a one-to-one basis and in small groups. Every day brings new opportunities to make a tangible difference to a young person’s life.
Provide individual and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
Support emotional regulation, positive behaviour and social development.
Assist in the implementation of personalised learning strategies.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
Promote a safe, inclusive and consistent learning environment.
Help students develop coping strategies and resilience in daily routines.
Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour (education, care or similar sectors).
A calm, empathetic and patient approach.
Confident using de-escalation techniques and emotional support strategies.
Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships.
Committed to safeguarding the well-being of children and young people.
