We are seeking a dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join our nurturing and specialist SEND school in East Grinstead this September.

🏫 About the School:

Our school supports students aged 7 to 19 with a range of complex needs, including:

  • Social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges

  • Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)

  • A history of disrupted education or non-attendance

The school offers both day and residential placements, and places strong emphasis on:

  • Therapeutic approaches

  • Life skills development

  • A tailored, engaging curriculum that helps learners re-engage and thrive

🍴 The Role:

You will be responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on Food Technology lessons, supporting students in building confidence, independence, and practical cooking skills. Lessons are designed to be both educational and therapeutic, contributing to students’ emotional wellbeing and everyday living skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons to meet a range of needs and abilities

  • Encouraging creativity, independence, and healthy lifestyle choices

  • Working closely with therapists, support staff, and parents/carers

  • Creating a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment

👤 About You:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS or QTLS) – ECTs are welcome to apply

  • Experienced or confident in working with SEND/SEMH learners

  • Practical, patient, and passionate about making cooking accessible and fun

  • Committed to holistic education and trauma-informed practice
