About Us Apply Now

A progressive and inclusive secondary school in Hove is looking for a committed Intervention Specialist to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact on young people’s lives, offering targeted support to help students overcome barriers and thrive both in and out of the classroom.

This role is ideal for someone who believes in the power of second chances, is passionate about inclusion, and thrives in a role where every day brings both challenge and reward.

The Role:

As an Intervention Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of the school’s approach to student support. Working closely with staff and students, you’ll help identify and respond to a wide range of needs, providing intervention that supports emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and academic engagement.

This is a varied, people-focused role that combines behaviour support, mentoring, and learning assistance. It’s a chance to make a genuine difference to young people who may need extra guidance to stay on track.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond quickly to staff requests to support students who need time out of lessons.

  • Supervise and engage students in the Reflection room, helping them stay focused and understand the impact of their behaviour.

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support tailored to student needs – both academic and emotional.

  • Work under the guidance of teaching and pastoral staff to deliver effective in-class and out-of-class support.

  • Support students with a range of needs, including special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

  • Help maintain a calm, respectful and supportive school environment.

Who This Role Would Suit:

  • Someone who is calm, patient, and confident in managing behaviour.

  • A strong communicator who can build trust while maintaining boundaries.

  • A team player who’s adaptable and ready to face challenges head-on.

  • Someone who genuinely enjoys working with young people and wants to make a difference.

  • Someone who sees potential in every student and is committed to helping them succeed.

Experience & Background:

Experience in education, youth support, psychology, health or social care is preferred, but not essential – the right attitude, emotional intelligence and a willingness to learn are equally valued. Training and ongoing support will be provided.

Why Apply?

This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to be part of a caring and committed team, and to have a direct, lasting impact on students’ lives. No two days will be the same, but every day will matter.
