About the School
This is a small, supportive independent school catering for up to 31 pupils with EHCPs for a range of needs, including SEMH, Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia. The school follows a trauma-informed, attachment-aware approach, with the principles of PACE and the 4Rs (regulate, relate, reason, repair) central to its ethos.

Staff are committed to delivering a personalised and engaging education that promotes both academic progress and emotional growth. The Role
We are looking for an experienced, compassionate class teacher to lead a small upper primary class. The ideal candidate will have a passion for inclusive education, the ability to adapt lessons to meet a range of individual needs, and the determination to ensure that every pupil thrives.

You will help shape and deliver a bespoke curriculum, focused on English and maths, life skills, and physical development, while supporting pupils’ interests through thematic learning. The role includes planning and teaching differentiated lessons, reviewing and assessing pupil progress, and contributing to wider school documentation such as Annual Reviews, Individual Risk Assessments, and Positive Behaviour Plans.

This is a collaborative role requiring excellent teamwork, leadership within your classroom, and effective communication with colleagues and external professionals.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified teacher with proven experience supporting pupils with SEND

  • Be passionate about trauma-informed, pupil-centred education

  • Adapt learning to individual needs and maintain high expectations for all pupils

  • Form strong, supportive relationships with children and adults alike

  • Demonstrate patience, creativity, and emotional resilience

  • Show initiative, professionalism, and a positive approach to team working

  • Have up-to-date training and a commitment to continued professional development

  • Be willing to undertake PRICE de-escalation and physical intervention training

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, teach, and assess learning using a bespoke curriculum

  • Track and report on pupil progress against EHCP outcomes

  • Contribute to school policies, culture, and behaviour systems

  • Engage with families and external agencies as needed

  • Support the wellbeing and safeguarding of all pupils

  • Take part in duties, assemblies, meetings, and ongoing training

  • Help shape and enrich the curriculum offer
