Support Assistant

About Us Apply Now

Are you passionate about making a real difference in a child’s life?
Do you have experience supporting individuals with additional needs — whether children, adults, or the elderly — and want to transfer those valuable skills into an educational setting?

We’re currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Support Mentor to work closely with a child with additional needs in a welcoming and inclusive school. This full-time, long-term opportunity is ideal for someone with a calm, patient approach and a genuine interest in supporting child development and inclusive education.

🧩 Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 support to a child with additional needs (such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or communication/sensory difficulties)

  • Assisting the child with accessing learning, classroom activities, and daily routines

  • Implementing strategies recommended by the SENCO and external professionals

  • Encouraging emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour

  • Supporting transitions during the school day (e.g. breaktime, lunch, classroom changes)

  • Maintaining accurate records of progress and behaviours as needed

💼 Who We’re Looking For:

You don’t need previous school experience to apply — your background may include:

  • Supporting adults or the elderly with learning disabilities, dementia, or additional needs

  • Working in care, residential or supported living environments

  • Experience as a youth worker, carer, or teaching assistant in alternative settings

If you bring strong communication, patience, empathy, and adaptability, you already have the foundation to thrive in this rewarding role.

✅ Requirements:

  • Availability Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm during term time

  • A genuine passion for working with children and promoting inclusion

  • A clear and up-to-date enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply – we can help!)

  • Willingness to work as part of a wider school team and follow individual plans

⭐ Why Work Through an Agency?

  • Weekly pay – regular and reliable income

  • Work-life balance – term-time only, with school holidays off

  • Varied experience – gain insight into different schools and classroom environments

  • Support from experienced consultants – dedicated to finding you the right fit

  • Pathway to permanent roles – many long-term placements lead to direct school employment

  • Ongoing CPD and training opportunities to support your development

If you’re ready to bring your skills into an education setting and make a lasting difference in a child’s life, we’d love to hear from you.
