As a 1:1 Support Assistant, you’ll:
Provide tailored, individual support for a child with significant additional needs (learning, social, or physical).
Help the child engage positively with classroom learning and daily routines.
Implement and follow individual education and care plans (IEPs/EHCPs).
Support with personal care, emotional regulation, and behaviour management where required.
Adapt activities and communication to suit the child’s needs.
Liaise closely with teachers, SENCOs, and outside professionals to track progress.
Encourage independence, confidence, and social inclusion.
Be flexible and proactive, assisting across the classroom or school when needed.
We’re seeking candidates who are:
Experienced in supporting children with SEND or complex needs (ideally in a school setting).
Calm, patient, and resilient, able to respond positively to challenges.
Adaptable and comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
Able to build strong, trusting relationships with children and staff.
The Ideal candidate needs to be confident with personal care, mobility support, or medical needs (training provided). Preferred but not essential.
Understanding of autism, communication delays, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs preferred but not essential.
