De-escalation Mentors Needed

Are you calm under pressure, great at reading people, and passionate about helping young people succeed?
We’re looking for De-escalation Mentors to join our supportive school teams in the Hailsham and Bexhill areas, working with both primary and secondary-aged students who need a little extra guidance to stay on track.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining a positive, safe, and calm environment — helping students regulate emotions, move smoothly between classes, and engage positively with learning.


What You’ll Do

  • Support students during transitions between classes and around the school

  • Help de-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively

  • Build trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families

  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Support the smooth flow of the school day and help create a nurturing environment

  • Work closely with teaching and pastoral teams to promote wellbeing and inclusion


We’re Looking For People With:

  • Experience or transferable skills from roles such as:
    -Youth Mentor –Behaviour Support Assistant -Learning Mentor -Teaching Assistant -Support Worker -Care Assistant -Sports Coach -Youth or Community Worker

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach

  • Resilience and the ability to stay composed in challenging moments

  • A natural ability to guide and motivate young people

  • Understanding of behaviour management and emotional needs (training provided)


Details

– Location: Hailsham and surrounding areas
– Hours: Full-time and part-time available
– Start: Immediate or flexible start dates
– Pay: Competitive, depending on experience
