We’re looking for a Support Mentor to join a specialist SEMH school supporting children who need extra guidance with behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning. This is a long-term role with huge opportunities to grow and progress within a supportive, forward-thinking school.
What you’ll do:
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage personal growth and success.
Support learning in and outside the classroom — helping pupils re-engage with education.
Work 1:1 and in small groups to deliver tailored support and interventions.
Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
Collaborate closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external agencies.
Skills & Qualities:
Empathy, patience, and confidence in managing challenging behaviour.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A calm, consistent approach and ability to adapt quickly.
A genuine desire to make a lasting difference.
Ideal background / transferable experience:
Youth Worker / Behaviour Mentor / Learning Mentor
Teaching Assistant or Classroom Support Assistant
Support Worker (children’s or adults’ services)
Sports Coach / Outdoor Education Leader
Care or Residential Worker
Psychology, Criminology, or Education graduate
