About the Role

We are looking for a committed 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to join a friendly and supportive school in Hailsham. You will provide dedicated support to a pupil with additional learning and behavioural needs, helping them access learning, feel confident and thrive in the classroom.

This role is perfect for someone calm, patient and passionate about supporting children with SEND.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 classroom support for a pupil with SEND (ASD, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties)

  • Support learning activities and engagement throughout the school day

  • Assist with emotional regulation and positive behaviour routines

  • Follow strategies and support plans set by the teacher and SENCO

  • Promote independence, confidence and social interaction

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents and professionals


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people (school, nursery, care, tutoring, youth work etc.)

  • Understanding of SEND or willingness to develop skills

  • Calm, reliable and confident when supporting behaviour needs

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Must be available 5 days per week (Monday–Friday)

  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Positive, proactive and supportive attitude
