Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Contract: Part-time, 4 days per week
Start Date: January 2026

A secondary school in Horsham is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its supportive team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a confident and motivated individual who is committed to helping young people achieve their full potential.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Support teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4
Lead small-group interventions and occasionally deliver whole-class learning under the guidance of teaching staff
Assist with planning, preparation, and assessment
Provide tailored support for students with diverse educational needs
Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should:

Hold HLTA status (or have equivalent experience)
Demonstrate strong communication, organisational, and behaviour-management skills
Take a proactive, flexible, and student-centred approach
Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students

Safeguarding

All applicants must have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one prior to appointment.
