Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Contract: Part-time, 4 days per week
Start Date: January 2026

A secondary school in Horsham is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its supportive team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a confident and motivated individual who is committed to helping young people achieve their full potential.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Support teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Lead small-group interventions and occasionally deliver whole-class learning under the guidance of teaching staff

  • Assist with planning, preparation, and assessment

  • Provide tailored support for students with diverse educational needs

  • Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should:

  • Hold HLTA status (or have equivalent experience)

  • Demonstrate strong communication, organisational, and behaviour-management skills

  • Take a proactive, flexible, and student-centred approach

  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students

All applicants must have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one prior to appointment.
