ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)

Location: Mainstream Primary School – Hove, East Sussex
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
Pay: £97–£115 per day
Start Date: ASAP


Are you passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and helping them thrive in school?
We are looking for a qualified ELSA or experienced pastoral support professional to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Hove. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.


About the Role:

  • Deliver ELSA interventions to support pupils’ emotional literacy, resilience, and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with SENCO, teachers, and families to create a nurturing environment.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and anxiety.
  • Help pupils develop coping strategies, confidence, and positive relationships.

What We’re Looking For:

  • ELSA qualification or experience in emotional wellbeing support (essential).
  • Experience working with children with SEN and SEMH needs in a school setting.
  • A caring, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting equality.
