Learning Support Assistant (LSA): SEMH & Autism Support

Location: New SEMH School near Crawley
Salary: £97 per day
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time


About the Role

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome challenges and achieve their potential? We are looking for a committed Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a brand-new specialist SEMH school for students aged 11–16. With small class sizes and a supportive team, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs and Autism.


What You’ll Do

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH and autism
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience, and coping strategies
  • Support behaviour management using positive reinforcement techniques
  • Contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCPs
  • Create a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels valued

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH and autism (school or care setting)
  • Strong understanding of emotional literacy and child development
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Empathy, patience, and a proactive approach
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
