Learning Support Assistant – Alternative Provision (Guildford, Surrey)

Salary: £105–£115 per day
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time
Start Date: January 2026

Do you have a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a committed Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist Alternative Provision in Guildford, helping pupils aged 5–16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.

About the Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
  • Assist the teacher in delivering engaging, tailored lessons that promote progress and positive behaviour.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and supported.
  • Contribute to a calm, nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEMH or SEND setting.
  • Resilience, empathy, and a proactive approach to managing challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
  • A genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable learners.
