SEMH Specialist Provision | Hampshire
L9 – L13 (dependent on experience)
Full Time | Permanent
Inclusion leadership is complex, demanding and often relentless — but for the right leader, it is also one of the most professionally rewarding roles in education.
Pink Tile is proud to be supporting a highly regarded SEMH specialist provision in Hampshire in the appointment of an exceptional Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion). This is a rare opportunity to join a committed and forward-thinking Senior Leadership Team in a setting where inclusion is not an add-on, but the core purpose of the school.
This role would suit an experienced, strategic and values-led leader who understands the realities of SEND and SEMH leadership: statutory processes with immovable deadlines, pupils whose needs don’t fit neatly into boxes, and the constant balance between compassion, compliance and high expectations.
This is a specialist secondary provision for boys aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, where all pupils have an EHCP. The school is known for its nurturing ethos, strong staff culture and commitment to doing things properly — for both pupils and adults.
Creativity, collaboration and trauma-informed practice sit at the heart of the school’s approach. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in shaping the next phase of the school’s development and strengthening inclusive practice across the setting.
This is a pivotal leadership role with strategic and operational responsibility for inclusion across the school. The successful candidate will lead, develop and quality-assure inclusive practice while remaining closely connected to pupils and staff through a small teaching commitment.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Whole-school inclusion and SEND strategy
Oversight of EHCP processes and Annual Reviews
Leadership of SEMH provision and targeted intervention
Acting as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), working closely with the Operational DSL
Designated Teacher responsibility for looked after and previously looked after children
Line management, coaching and development of staff
The teaching element of the role is purposeful and reflective — modelling inclusive, adaptive and trauma-informed practice.
We are looking for a confident, credible and emotionally intelligent leader who believes inclusion is everyone’s responsibility.
You will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have strong, practical experience of SEND and inclusive practice
Be confident managing statutory processes and competing priorities
Lead staff with clarity, empathy and purpose
Remain calm, reflective and resilient under pressure
Be ambitious for vulnerable learners and for your own leadership journey
A genuine opportunity to make lasting impact in a specialist SEMH setting
A supportive, values-driven leadership team
High-quality professional development and leadership growth
The chance to influence whole-school strategy, not just manage systems
A role where inclusion is central, resourced and taken seriously
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks and relevant employment checks.
Pink Tile strongly encourages informal conversations and visits — this is a role where context, culture and support matter.
Closing Date: Thursday 22 January 2026 (midday)
Interview Day: Wednesday 28 January 2026
Start Date: April 2026 preferred (September 2026 considered)
