SEND Teaching Assistant – ASD & Sensory Support (Long-Term) | Brighton

Location: Brighton
Start Date: February half term
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Pay: Competitive daily rate
DBS: Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required

A Brighton primary school is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Autism (ASD) and sensory processing needs on a long-term basis.

This role is ideal for someone calm, patient and confident supporting pupils who benefit from clear routines, structure and sensory regulation strategies.

The role involves:

  • 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD within the classroom

  • Using visual timetables, now/next boards and sensory tools

  • Supporting transitions and reducing anxiety throughout the school day

  • Working closely with the SENCO, class teacher and external professionals

  • Helping the pupil access learning and develop independence

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism and/or sensory needs

  • A calm, nurturing and consistent approach

  • Strong communication and observation skills

  • A genuine interest in inclusive education
