We are seeking a committed, adaptable and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our team from the last week of Term 4 through to the end of Year 6 on a full-time basis.
This role requires a highly flexible individual who is confident working across Key Stage 2 and able to respond positively to the changing needs of pupils and classes throughout the school day.
The successful candidate will divide their time across two key areas of support:
Supporting within a KS2 classroom where there can be periods of challenging behaviour. The role will involve helping pupils to regulate their emotions, supporting staff with behaviour management strategies, and helping to maintain a calm and productive learning environment.
Providing targeted support to an individual pupil within a classroom setting who has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Type 1 diabetes. The role will involve helping the pupil access learning and supporting their regulation and engagement in class. Appropriate medical and pastoral support will be available for diabetes management.
The role also requires working across both KS1 and KS2 at times of the day to support reading groups.
It will also cover playtime and lunchtime duties.
We are looking for someone who:
Is calm, patient and confident when supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
Can think on their feet and respond to situations as they arise
Is flexible and willing to work across different KS2 classes
Has a positive and proactive approach to supporting pupils’ emotional regulation
Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with teaching staff
Ideally has experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly ASD
This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working closely with pupils to help them succeed both academically and emotionally.
