A friendly and well-regarded primary school in Brighton is seeking a Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term supply basis. The school is known for its supportive leadership, inclusive ethos, and strong focus on pupil wellbeing and achievement.

About the Role

This long-term supply role offers consistency and the chance to make a real impact within the classroom. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to support teaching and learning, as well as provide targeted support to pupils where needed.

You may be required to lead small group interventions and take on additional responsibilities in line with your Level 3 qualification.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of engaging lessons alongside the class teacher
  • Lead small group interventions to support pupil progress
  • Provide 1:1 support, including for pupils with additional needs
  • Assist with planning and preparation of classroom activities and resources
  • Promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment
  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and wider school team

Requirements

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – essential
  • Previous experience working within a UK primary school
  • Confident supporting learning across EYFS, KS1, or KS2
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, reliable, and flexible approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Desirable

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND (e.g., autism, ADHD, SEMH)
  • Experience delivering interventions or supporting phonics and numeracy programmes
  • Knowledge of the UK primary curriculum
