Teaching Assistant – SEND (1:1 Support)

Location: Maidstone, Kent
Hours: Full-time, Term Time
Contract: Long-term / Permanent (depending on role)
Start Date: As soon as possible

We are looking for a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Maidstone, providing dedicated 1:1 support to a child with complex needs.

This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting children to reach their full potential.

The Role

You will:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with complex needs throughout the school day
  • Support learning activities adapted to meet individual needs
  • Assist with communication, emotional regulation, and engagement
  • Implement strategies set out in the pupil’s EHCP
  • Support personal care where required
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Help maintain a calm, safe, and structured learning environment

About You

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has experience (or a strong interest) in supporting children with complex SEND
  • Is calm, nurturing, and highly patient
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Is confident managing behaviour and emotional needs sensitively
  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Is reliable and committed to a full-time role

Experience in a SEND school, specialist provision, or care setting is desirable, though not essential – full training and ongoing support will be provided.
