English Teacher – SEMH Provision

Basingstoke | Full-Time | Permanent | September 2026

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000

Pink Tile Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEMH provision in Basingstoke seeking an English Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who wants to do more than simply deliver lessons. The school supports young people who have experienced barriers to education and require a nurturing, trauma-informed approach to help them re-engage with learning and achieve success.

With small class sizes, strong pastoral support and a genuinely child-centred approach, this setting allows teachers to focus on building relationships, developing confidence and making a lasting difference to students’ lives.

The Role

As an English Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and adaptive English lessons to Key Stage 3 learners

  • Support students with SEMH needs, SEND and EHCPs

  • Create a safe, structured and positive learning environment

  • Build strong relationships that encourage engagement and attendance

  • Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and target setting

  • Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding and therapeutic teams

  • Support students both academically and emotionally

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds QTS, QTLS or an equivalent teaching qualification

  • Has experience teaching English at secondary level

  • Understands the challenges faced by young people with SEMH needs

  • Builds positive relationships and remains calm under pressure

  • Is passionate about inclusion and helping students succeed

  • Thrives within a collaborative, supportive team environment

Applications are welcomed from teachers with backgrounds in mainstream, specialist, alternative provision or PRU settings.

Why Apply?

  • Small class sizes

  • Strong focus on staff wellbeing

  • Excellent CPD and professional development opportunities

  • Supportive leadership team

  • Opportunity to genuinely change the trajectory of young people’s lives

  • A rewarding role where relationships matter as much as results

If you’re looking for a teaching role where you can have a real impact on students who need it most, we’d love to hear from you.
