About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Worthing. This rewarding role involves providing individualised support to a pupil with additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with specific educational needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of personalised learning plans and interventions.
  • Support the pupil’s academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Encourage independence and promote positive engagement in classroom activities.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and relevant professionals.
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Teaching Assistant Level 2/3) are desirable but not essential.
