Based in Burgess Hill.
Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 4:00pm.
£14.25 per hour (£111.99 per day).

This specialist SEND school in Burgess Hill supports children and young people aged 2–19 years with a wide range of additional needs. This particular role is within a PMLD class, where pupils have profound and multiple learning disabilities, complex medical needs and significant communication needs.
Learning is delivered through sensory experiences, structured routines and highly personalised activities. The classroom is a calm, nurturing environment where pupils are encouraged to explore, communicate and engage at their own pace.
Many pupils are non-verbal and communicate through facial expressions, gestures, eye gaze, symbols or communication aids. Some pupils require support with mobility, including wheelchair users, and may require assistance with moving and handling or personal care as part of their daily routine.
Every achievement, no matter how small, is celebrated, and staff work closely together to ensure every pupil has the opportunity to thrive.
Support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and complex SEND needs.
Deliver engaging sensory activities that encourage communication, exploration and learning.
Support pupils who are non-verbal using visual symbols, communication boards or alternative communication methods.
Assist with mobility and physical support where required.
Provide personal care with dignity and respect when needed.
Build trusting relationships with pupils through consistency, patience and compassion.
Work closely with teachers, therapists and fellow Teaching Assistants to deliver personalised learning opportunities.
Help create a calm, safe and stimulating sensory learning environment.
Has experience supporting children or adults with SEND, particularly complex needs or PMLD.
Has experience within education, care, residential settings or healthcare.
Is patient, caring and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
Is confident supporting non-verbal pupils and children with physical disabilities.
Has experience with Makaton, PECS, symbols or other alternative communication methods (highly desirable).
Is willing to support with personal care and mobility where required.
Enjoys working as part of a supportive and dedicated team.

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a new DBS.
