The Role

As Mental Health & Wellbeing Lead, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating a specialist mental health programme, ensuring high-quality support is delivered to young people in a safe, inclusive, and person-centred way. You will work collaboratively with therapeutic providers, stakeholders, support staff, and external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for participants.

  • Liaise with stakeholders, partner organisations, and referring agencies.
  • Promote awareness of the programme within the wider community.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to wellbeing support staff.
  • Conduct initial assessments where appropriate and contribute to individual support planning.
  • Monitor, record, and evaluate outcomes to measure impact and progress.
  • Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, managed appropriately, and referred when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR, professional standards, and ethical practice.
  • Participate in supervision, professional development, team meetings, and case reviews.

Essential Qualifications

  • Recognised counselling qualification (Level 4 Diploma, Foundation Degree, BA Hons, Postgraduate Diploma, MSc or equivalent).
  • Qualification in counselling children and young people.
  • Accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or equivalent professional body.

Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of mental health and wellbeing needs affecting young people.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Awareness of challenges facing vulnerable children, young people, and families, including disadvantage, poverty, disability, and neurodiversity.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong written, administrative, and IT skills, with experience maintaining accurate case records.

Desirable

  • Experience within mental health, early intervention, or wellbeing services.
  • Experience supporting young people presenting with complex emotional or mental health needs.
  • Additional training or experience related to suicide prevention.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Is passionate about improving outcomes for young people.
  • Demonstrates empathy, professionalism, and resilience.
  • Can respond flexibly to individual needs and changing circumstances.
  • Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and best practice.
  • Values collaboration and a person-centred approach to support.

If you are dedicated to promoting positive mental health and empowering young people to thrive, we would love to hear from you.
