This specialist Alternative Provision in Crawley is seeking a passionate Behaviour Classroom Support professional to join their dedicated team this September. The provision supports students aged 11-16 who have experienced barriers within mainstream education and need additional support to re-engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes.
This is far more than a traditional Teaching Assistant role. As part of the Behaviour Classroom Support team, you’ll become a trusted adult, mentor and positive role model, helping young people rebuild confidence, regulate their emotions and rediscover a love of learning. This Alternative Provision offers short-term intervention programmes for students who require additional support due to:
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
School exclusion or risk of exclusion
Behavioural challenges
Difficulties sustaining mainstream education
The aim is to help students successfully re-engage with learning through targeted support, allowing them to develop emotionally, socially and academically before returning to mainstream education or progressing onto their next educational setting.
Students may present with:
SEMH needs
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD
Anxiety
Emotional regulation difficulties
Trauma or adverse childhood experiences
Gaps in education
Low confidence and self-esteem

As a member of the Behaviour Classroom Support team, you will:
Support students aged 11-16 throughout the school day.
Work alongside teachers and Teaching Assistants to deliver engaging learning activities.
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
Encourage positive behaviour using consistent strategies.
Help students regulate emotions and develop positive coping mechanisms.
Support learning across a range of curriculum subjects.
Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs.
Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions where required.
Work closely alongside teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals.
Promote confidence, resilience, independence and self-esteem.
Support students during challenging situations with patience and consistency.
Encourage attendance, engagement and participation in education.
Record observations and contribute to student progress.
Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment every day.
To be considered for this Behaviour Classroom Support role in Crawley, you must have:
GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Experience working with children or young people.
Previous experience within one or more of the following:
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Behaviour support
Mental health support
Youth work
Residential care
Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Behaviour Support positions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A calm, resilient and patient approach.
The ability to build positive professional relationships.
A genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people achieve their potential.
Team Teach training.
Experience within an Alternative Provision or specialist school.
Understanding of trauma-informed practice.
£100 per day whilst working through Pink Tile Education.
Full-time hours (8:30am-3:30pm), Monday-Friday.
Term-time only working.

Following a successful probationary period, you will have the opportunity to become a permanent member of the school’s team.
