Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Classroom Assistant looking for a rewarding role in Burgess Hill? Do you have experience supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

Pink Tile Education is working with a fantastic SEND school in Burgess Hill that is looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join its friendly and highly supportive team from 1st September.

This welcoming Burgess Hill school supports both primary and secondary-aged pupils with a wide range of SEND needs. Every student receives an individualised approach to learning, with a strong focus on communication, emotional wellbeing and independence. The school has excellent facilities, outstanding resources and an experienced staff team who work together to provide the very best outcomes for every pupil.

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll support students with a range of additional needs, including more complex learning, communication and sensory needs. The school would also love to hear from Learning Support Assistants, Classroom Assistants, carers or support workers who have experience helping children regulate their emotions using distraction techniques, sensory strategies and relationship-based approaches. Whether your SEND experience comes from a professional role or your personal life, your skills and understanding could make a real difference.

  • Supporting students with emotional regulation using distraction techniques, sensory approaches and positive behaviour strategies.

  • Building trusting relationships that encourage confidence, independence and engagement.

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and the wider SEND team to deliver personalised support.

  • Helping pupils achieve their individual academic, social and emotional goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Classroom Assistant, Support Worker or similar role.

  • Personal or professional experience supporting children or young people with SEND.

  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, visual symbols or alternative communication methods would be an advantage.

  • Experience supporting emotional regulation through calming techniques, distraction strategies or sensory approaches.

  • A calm, patient and resilient attitude.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

Why Join This Burgess Hill School?

  • A welcoming, inclusive and highly supportive team.

  • Fantastic facilities and resources designed specifically for students with SEND.

  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

  • A rewarding Teaching Assistant role where you’ll make a genuine difference every day.

  • Temp-to-perm from Day One – you’ll begin on a clear pathway towards a permanent position from your very first day, with the intention of joining the school permanently if it’s the right fit for both you and the school.

If you’re looking for your next Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Classroom Assistant role in Burgess Hill, we’d love to hear from you.
