We are currently seeking a caring and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming small primary school near Chichester. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a close-knit school community where every child is known, valued, and supported to succeed.

The role will involve supporting pupils with a range of additional needs through a combination of 1:1 support and small group interventions, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and develop key life skills.

Please note: Due to the rural location of the school, candidates must be able to drive and have access to their own transport, as the school is not accessible via public transport.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and school staff to provide tailored support for pupils who require additional assistance throughout the school day.

You will help create a nurturing and engaging learning environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to achieve their best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small group settings
  • Assisting children with a range of SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language difficulties
  • Working alongside class teachers to adapt learning activities where required
  • Promoting positive behaviour, independence, and social development
  • Building strong and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to staff
  • Encouraging engagement and participation in classroom activities
  • Supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and confidence

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • A positive, patient, and nurturing approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or a related field
  • Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs
