Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

£143.70 per day | Full-Time | Monday to Friday | September Start | Temporary Opportunity

Are you an experienced HLTA, Cover Supervisor or Unqualified Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity in a specialist setting?

A specialist SEMH school in Ledbury is looking for a confident and committed HLTA to join their team from September. You’ll be supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them engage with learning and make positive progress.

The Role

  • Support and lead learning activities across the curriculum.
  • Lead lessons or learning activities in the absence of the class teacher when required.
  • Support pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement.
  • Contribute to pupil progress, assessment and individual support plans.
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider school team.
  • Help create a calm, structured and purposeful learning environment.
  • Support and guide other members of the teaching support team where appropriate.

About You

  • Previous HLTA experience is desirable, or experience as a Cover Supervisor, Unqualified Teacher or experienced Teaching Assistant.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs.
  • Confident leading learning and managing challenging behaviour.
  • Calm, resilient and adaptable.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their potential.
