We are recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Waterlooville that supports children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), alongside additional learning and communication difficulties.

The school prides itself on creating a nurturing and therapeutic environment where pupils are supported to rebuild confidence in education. Many children have experienced barriers to learning and benefit from consistent, positive relationships and tailored support throughout the day.

The Role:

  • Providing classroom-based support and interventions
  • Building positive relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviours
  • Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Encouraging engagement with learning activities
  • Working with teachers to implement individual support plans
  • Acting as a positive role model across the school day

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working within education, care, youth work or support work
  • A strong understanding of SEMH needs or behaviour support strategies
  • Confident, patient and adaptable approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commitment to supporting vulnerable young people
