Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to children’s lives?

Pink Tile Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Croydon area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to develop a career in education. The successful candidate will provide support both inside and outside the classroom, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and ensuring they feel confident, included and supported throughout the school day.

Experience working with SEND, SEMH or challenging behaviour would be highly desirable, although this is not essential. Previous experience working within a school or educational setting would also be an advantage.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and other members of the school team to support pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing.

You may be supporting children on a 1:1 basis, in small groups or as part of the wider classroom, depending on their individual needs.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
  • Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and develop key skills.
  • Providing additional support to pupils who may require extra help with their learning.
  • Supporting children with SEND and SEMH needs where appropriate.
  • Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Supporting children who may experience difficulties with concentration, communication, emotional regulation or behaviour.
  • Working alongside class teachers and the wider support team to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
  • Providing consistent and calm support when children become dysregulated or require additional reassurance.
  • Using your own initiative to identify where pupils may need additional help.
  • Celebrating pupils’ progress and achievements.

About You

We are looking for someone who is caring, enthusiastic, patient and genuinely passionate about working with children.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND or SEMH is desirable.
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour or vulnerable children would be advantageous.
  • Experience with ASD and/or ADHD is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm, patient and positive approach.
  • The ability to build strong and positive relationships with children.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Confidence working independently and using your own initiative.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting pupils.
  • A genuine desire to develop a career in education and make a positive difference.
