Pink Tile Education is currently recruiting for a SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Bromley area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about working with children, particularly those who may display challenging behaviour or require additional emotional, behavioural or educational support.

Previous experience working in a school is advantageous, but not essential. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have experience working with vulnerable children, challenging behaviour, SEND or SEMH and are looking to develop a career in education.

About the Role

As a SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils who may need additional help with their behaviour, emotional regulation, social development and learning.

You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to help pupils feel safe, supported and able to access their education.

The role may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Supporting children with challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent and positive way.
  • Helping pupils manage their emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable children.
  • Supporting pupils to engage with learning and develop their confidence and independence.
  • Implementing individual behaviour and support plans.
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and celebrating pupils’ progress.
  • Using your own initiative to respond to individual pupils’ needs.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who is caring, resilient, patient and confident when working with children who may present with challenging behaviour.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience supporting challenging behaviour.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children or individuals with additional needs.
  • A genuine interest in SEND and SEMH.
  • Previous experience working in a primary school or educational setting is desirable.
  • Experience working with ASD and/or ADHD is desirable but not essential.
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • The confidence to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • A positive and proactive attitude.
  • A genuine desire to build a career working with children and make a difference to their lives.
