1:1 SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Croydon
Job Type: Full-time
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £100 – £120 per day
Start Date: ASAP

We are currently recruiting for a 1:1 SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant to support an individual pupil at a primary school in Croydon.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and wants to make a positive difference to a pupil’s educational and emotional development.

About the Role

You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to an individual pupil with SEND/SEMH needs, including autism and challenging behaviour.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support throughout the school day.
  • Supporting the pupil in the classroom and during break and lunch times.
  • Helping the pupil manage their emotions and behaviour.
  • Encouraging engagement with learning and school activities.
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
  • Supporting the pupil to develop confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
  • Providing consistent, calm and open-minded support.

About You

The successful candidate will be:

  • Patient, calm and understanding.
  • Open-minded and able to see things from the pupil’s perspective.
  • Confident when supporting challenging behaviour.
  • Passionate about working with children and supporting their individual needs.
  • Reliable, consistent and enthusiastic.
  • Able to build positive relationships with children.
  • Previous experience working within a school setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working with SEND, SEMH or autism would be an advantage, but training and support can be provided.

Pay & Holiday Pay

The pay stated is inclusive of the additional 12.07% PAYE holiday pay.
