Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential?
We are looking for a Learning Support Mentor to join a supportive school in the Surrey area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with young people and has a genuine interest in supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour.
As a Learning Support Mentor, you will provide tailored support to pupils who may experience barriers to learning, emotional regulation, communication, social interaction or behaviour.
You will work closely with teaching staff and the wider pastoral and SEND teams to help pupils feel confident, supported and ready to learn.
The role will involve supporting young people with a range of needs, including:
You will play an important role in helping pupils develop their confidence, resilience, independence and engagement with education.
We are looking for a patient, empathetic, resilient and approachable individual who can build strong relationships with young people.
Experience working with SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD or challenging behaviour would be highly desirable. Previous experience in education, youth work, mentoring, residential care, support work, sports coaching or similar environments would also be valuable.
You may be an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Behaviour Support Worker, Youth Worker or someone looking to develop a career working with children and young people.
Most importantly, you will have the ability to remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively and see the individual behind the behaviour.
