Behavioural Support Mentor – Crawley

Pink Tile Education is supporting a welcoming secondary school in the Crawley area who are looking for a dedicated Behavioural Support Mentor to join their Inclusion Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has experience working with young people and is passionate about helping pupils manage their behaviour, build confidence and make positive choices. Previous experience working within a school setting is preferred but not essential — experience supporting young people of secondary school age in behavioural, mentoring, youth work or similar settings will be highly valued.
Day to day, you will:
- Support pupils with behavioural and emotional needs, helping them understand and manage their behaviour while encouraging positive choices and attitudes towards school.
- Work alongside the Inclusion Team to provide targeted support for pupils who may be experiencing challenges with behaviour, engagement, attendance or their wider wellbeing.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a consistent, calm and supportive adult who they can rely on throughout the school day.
- Deliver one-to-one and small-group mentoring and intervention, helping pupils develop strategies to manage their emotions, improve their communication and develop greater independence.
- Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral colleagues, sharing relevant observations and contributing to appropriate strategies and support plans to help pupils successfully engage in school.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience working with young people or youths, ideally at secondary school age.
- Experience supporting behavioural needs, pastoral needs or emotional regulation would be highly beneficial.
- Previous experience within a school or education setting is preferred but not essential.
- A calm, patient and approachable nature with the ability to build strong relationships with young people.
- Someone who is resilient, consistent and able to remain positive when supporting challenging situations.
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and reach their potential.
