Pink Tile Education are currently looking for a Pupil Engagement Officer to join a school in Bromley. This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, resilient and proactive education professional who can build strong relationships with pupils, encourage positive behaviour and help students re-engage with their education.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.
As a Pupil Engagement Officer, you will play an important role in helping pupils develop positive attitudes towards education, manage their behaviour and overcome barriers that may prevent them from engaging with learning.
You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider school team to provide consistent and individualised support.
Your responsibilities may include:
Supporting pupils who experience challenging behaviour or difficulties engaging with education.
Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with pupils.
Encouraging pupils to attend, participate and engage positively in school.
Supporting students with SEMH, autism, ADHD and learning difficulties.
Helping pupils recognise and overcome barriers to learning.
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
Using appropriate behaviour strategies to encourage positive choices.
De-escalating challenging situations calmly and professionally.
Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to implement individual support strategies.
Monitoring pupil engagement, behaviour and progress.
Maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to relevant staff.
Promoting a safe, respectful and inclusive school environment.
This role would suit someone who is calm under pressure, consistent in their approach and confident supporting pupils with a range of behavioural, emotional and additional needs.
The successful Pupil Engagement Officer will ideally have:
Previous experience working with children or young people.
Experience supporting challenging behaviour.
An understanding of SEND and SEMH.
Experience or knowledge of autism, ADHD and learning difficulties.
The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
Confidence in setting clear and consistent boundaries.
The ability to encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
A proactive approach to supporting pupils who may struggle with education.
The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
Previous experience as a Pupil Engagement Officer, Behaviour Support Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEND TA, Youth Worker, Pastoral Support Worker or similar would be advantageous.
