Teaching Assistant

Dorking, Surrey | Full-Time | Monday to Friday | Term Time Only

A specialist SEND/SEMH school in Dorking is looking for a caring, patient and resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, SEMH needs and additional learning needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, SEMH Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Behaviour Support Assistant who is passionate about helping young people develop confidence, manage their emotions and engage positively with education.

About the Role

  • Support pupils with SEND, SEMH and additional needs
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required
  • Help pupils engage with learning and school activities
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Encourage confidence, independence and positive engagement
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider SEND/SEMH team
  • Help maintain a calm, safe and supportive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEN or SEMH
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour or emotional regulation needs would be beneficial
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Support Worker or similar would be beneficial.
