HR Manager
Guildford, Surrey | Full-Time | Monday to Friday | Term Time Only
A specialist SEN school in Guildford is looking for an experienced and people-focused HR Manager to join their team.
This is a varied role supporting the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through to employee relations, compliance and staff development. The successful candidate will be confident working independently, managing sensitive information and providing professional HR support to staff and leadership.
About the Role
- Oversee day-to-day HR operations across the school
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, changes and leavers
- Provide advice and support to managers on HR policies and procedures
- Support employee relations matters, including absence, performance and conduct
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
- Oversee Right to Work, DBS, references and safer recruitment checks
- Ensure HR processes remain compliant with relevant legislation and school policies
- Support staff wellbeing, engagement and development
- Manage and monitor sickness absence and annual leave records
- Prepare HR reports and provide relevant information to school leadership
- Support payroll processes and ensure employee changes are communicated accurately
- Review and improve HR processes and procedures where required
- Work closely with the Headteacher and wider leadership team
About You
- Previous experience working as an HR Manager, HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor
- Strong knowledge of HR processes, employment legislation and employee relations
- Experience managing confidential and sensitive employee matters
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident advising managers and working with senior leadership
- Highly accurate with strong attention to detail
- Proactive, professional and able to work independently
- Experience within a school, education, SEN or specialist setting would be beneficial
