This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with children and is passionate about helping pupils with SEND, ASD and behavioural needs succeed both academically and personally.
The successful candidate will provide consistent support to pupils who may require additional help with their learning, communication, emotional regulation and behaviour. You will play an important role in helping children feel safe, understood and confident within the school environment.
As a Learning Support Mentor, you will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, supporting them both in the classroom and throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting children who may display challenging or distressed behaviour.
Helping pupils develop strategies to manage emotions and regulate their behaviour.
Encouraging positive communication, social skills and independence.
Supporting pupils to access lessons and participate in school activities.
Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
Following individual learning, behaviour and support plans.
Working alongside teachers, the SENCO and wider school support team.

You may have previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Support Worker or Youth Worker.
Experience of working with ASD, SEND or challenging behaviour would be highly beneficial, although the most important qualities are the right attitude, patience and willingness to support children.

An understanding of SEND and/or autism.
Confidence supporting children with behavioural needs.
A calm and consistent approach.
The ability to remain patient and professional during challenging situations.
