We are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in the Bexley area.
This is a full-time role supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), with a particular focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and challenging behaviour.
The successful candidate will be patient, calm and resilient, with a genuine interest in supporting children to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
Supporting children with ASD and autism within the classroom.
Supporting pupils who display challenging or complex behaviour.
Helping children manage their emotions and regulate their behaviour.
Following individual learning, behaviour and support plans.
Supporting pupils with classroom activities and learning.
Encouraging positive communication, social interaction and independence.
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and other support staff.
Helping to maintain a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN or ASD.
Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour is desirable.
A calm, patient and consistent approach.
The ability to remain composed when dealing with challenging situations.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
The ability to follow individual support and behaviour plans.
A positive and nurturing approach.
Experience within a school, specialist education setting, care environment, youth work or support work would be advantageous.
