SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist Primary School

Hours: 8:30am–3:00pm

Are you passionate about supporting children with complex SEND needs?

Pink Tile Education are looking for a caring, resilient and energetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a lovely specialist primary SEND school in Worthing.

This is a busy, active and rewarding role supporting children with a range of complex needs. No two days will be the same, and you will play an important role in helping pupils feel safe, supported and able to engage in school life.

The Role

You will support primary-aged children with a range of additional needs, including pupils who may be non-verbal, have mobility challenges or require significant support with emotional regulation and behaviour.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEND

  • Supporting children who are non-verbal or have communication difficulties

  • Assisting pupils with mobility challenges and physical needs

  • Supporting children who may become dysregulated or display challenging behaviour

  • Helping pupils with emotional regulation and implementing individual support strategies

  • Supporting children to access learning, activities and the wider school environment

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils

  • Providing a calm, consistent and nurturing approach

  • Working closely with teachers and the wider SEND team

  • Supporting pupils’ individual care needs where required

  • Being actively involved throughout the school day — this is a hands-on and busy role

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Caring, patient and resilient

  • Confident supporting children with complex SEND needs

  • Comfortable working in an active and sometimes challenging environment

  • Able to remain calm and consistent when a child becomes dysregulated

  • Understanding of behaviour as a form of communication

  • A strong team player who is happy to get stuck in

  • Passionate about helping children with additional needs develop and thrive

Previous experience in a SEND school, SEN setting, care environment, SEMH provision or as a Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant is highly desirable.
