Are you passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour?
Are you looking to build a career in behaviour management, trauma-informed support or specialist education?
Pink Tile Education are working with a specialist SEMH school in Littlehampton, supporting boys who have experienced trauma and may present with challenging behaviour, emotional dysregulation and complex social and emotional needs.
This is an active, hands-on role and would be particularly well suited to someone who wants to gain valuable experience working directly with young people who require consistent, positive and trauma-informed support.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils throughout the school day, helping them to regulate their emotions, manage behaviour and engage positively with education.
You will:
Support boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Work with pupils who may display challenging behaviour and emotional dysregulation
Use positive and consistent behaviour management strategies
Develop positive and trusting relationships with pupils who have experienced trauma and adversity
Support pupils during periods of dysregulation and help them return to a calm state
Follow individual behaviour and support plans
Encourage positive choices, boundaries and appropriate behaviour
Help pupils engage with learning and activities
Work closely with teachers and the wider staff team
Take part in an active, hands-on school day, including being on your feet and supporting pupils in different environments
Help create a safe, structured and supportive environment where pupils can succeed
You don’t necessarily need to have worked in an SEMH school before. We are particularly interested in people who have a genuine interest in behaviour management and supporting young people with complex needs.
You may have experience as a:
Teaching Assistant
Learning Support Assistant
Youth Worker
Support Worker
Behaviour Support Worker
Residential Support Worker
Sports Coach
Mentor
Care Worker
SEN Teaching Assistant
Experience working with challenging behaviour, trauma, SEMH or vulnerable young people is desirable, but attitude, resilience and the ability to build positive relationships are just as important.
You will need to be calm, consistent and confident setting boundaries while also understanding that behaviour is often a form of communication.
This is a fantastic opportunity if you are looking to develop a career in behaviour management, SEMH, specialist education or youth support.
You will gain hands-on experience supporting young people who have experienced trauma and who may become dysregulated or present with challenging behaviour. You will develop valuable skills in de-escalation, emotional regulation, behaviour support and trauma-informed practice.
The role is temporary to permanent, giving you the opportunity to secure a long-term position within the school if it proves to be the right fit.
Start ASAP.
If you are resilient, energetic and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education, we would love to hear from you.
Apply today with your CV and a member of the Pink Tile Education team will be in touch.
