Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting pupils with additional needs and managing challenging behaviour?
Pink Tile Education is working with a SEMH school, a specialist school for boys aged 5–18 with a range of Special Educational Needs, including autism, ADHD and trauma-related needs. The school provides both day and residential education in a supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to feel safe, develop confidence and re-engage with learning.
We are looking for a resilient, patient and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join the team as soon as possible.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who understands that working in a specialist setting requires consistency, compassion and confidence. You’ll play an important role in helping pupils manage their emotions, engage with learning and develop positive relationships.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and the wider school team to support pupils with their learning, behaviour and social and emotional development.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils with a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD and SEMH needs.
Helping pupils access lessons and engage positively with learning.
Managing challenging behaviour calmly, confidently and consistently.
Building positive relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
Supporting pupils to regulate their emotions and make positive choices.
Following individual behaviour management plans and agreed school procedures.
Encouraging pupils to develop independence, resilience and social skills.
Working closely with teachers and colleagues to provide consistent support.
Helping create a safe, structured and positive learning environment.
Essential:
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
Confidence in managing challenging behaviour.
A calm, resilient and consistent approach when faced with difficult situations.
Patience, empathy and the ability to build positive relationships.
A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable:
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs.
Experience in a specialist school or alternative provision.
An understanding of autism, ADHD, trauma-informed practice or positive behaviour support.
You don’t need to have experience of every type of SEND, but you must be confident in your ability to support pupils who may display challenging behaviour and be open to learning the school’s approaches and completing relevant training.
£127 per day through Pink Tile Education.
Consistent weekday hours, with an earlier finish Tuesday to Friday.
An ASAP start.
Temp-to-perm opportunities from day one for the right candidate.
A permanent salary of approximately £27,000–£27,100 per year once transferred to the school.
The opportunity to develop your SEND and behaviour management experience within an established specialist setting.
Importantly, the school does not pro rata its permanent salaries, offering a permanent salary of over £27,000 rather than a reduced term-time-only salary.
If you have SEND experience, are confident managing challenging behaviour and want to make a genuine difference to young people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you.
