We’re looking for a compassionate, resilient and dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist Alternative Provision in Hastings, supporting a young person with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. Weekly pay £14.25 + per hour

The Role

Working on a dedicated 1:1 basis, you’ll support a pupil who requires additional emotional, behavioural and educational support throughout the school day.

You’ll become a consistent, encouraging presence, helping them regulate emotions, engage with learning and celebrate every achievement along the way.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated one-to-one support throughout the school day.
  • Building a positive, trusting relationship with your pupil.
  • Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Helping pupils access learning in a way that works for them.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and resilience.
  • Working closely with teachers and therapeutic professionals to implement personalised support plans.
  • Managing challenging behaviours calmly and positively.
  • Promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion at all times.
  • Recording progress and celebrating successes—no matter how small.
