1:1 Support Assistant for Primary Aged Child with Additional Needs – Central Brighton

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in their school environment? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Support Assistant to join a vibrant mainstream primary school in Central Brighton, providing tailored support to a child with additional needs and challenging behaviour.

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (Potential for Permanent Position for the Right Candidate)
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

About the Role: In this rewarding role, you will work closely with a primary-aged child who requires additional support to access their learning and school life. You will be responsible for offering personalised assistance in the classroom, providing behavioural support, and helping the child engage with both academic tasks and social interactions. You’ll be a positive presence in their school day, encouraging independence and boosting their confidence in a mainstream environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a primary-aged child with additional needs and challenging behaviour.

  • Assist in the child’s academic progress, helping with specific learning tasks.

  • Support the child in managing emotions and developing positive behaviour strategies.

  • Promote social inclusion, ensuring the child feels supported during break times and group activities.

  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other support staff to create a tailored support plan.

  • Foster a safe and positive learning environment that enhances the child’s experience at school.

  • Experience working with children with additional needs, preferably in a school setting.
