We are seeking an experienced, committed and inspirational Assistant Headteacher to join the leadership team of a specialist educational setting in the Lewes/Hailsham area. This is a rewarding opportunity for a forward-thinking professional to play a key role in shaping the school’s strategic direction and ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning and care for all pupils.
Working closely with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher, you will support the leadership and management of the whole school and take departmental responsibility for leading a team of teachers and support staff.
Support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in the strategic and operational leadership of the school.
Lead a department, overseeing curriculum design, teaching quality and pupil outcomes.
Communicate and model the school’s vision and values across all aspects of school life.
Support staff performance management, professional development and well-being.
Ensure safeguarding, inclusion and equality are central to all decision-making.
Contribute to whole-school improvement planning and policy development.
Deputise for senior leaders when required.
You will be an enthusiastic and resilient leader who is passionate about inclusive education and improving outcomes for every learner.
You will have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree.
Proven success as a classroom practitioner and experience of leadership.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
A commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and safeguarding.
Experience supporting pupils with complex learning SEND.
A positive, collaborative and supportive working environment.
