About Us
We are an exciting new SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school opening in Horley, dedicated to transforming the lives of children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs. As we prepare to open our doors, we are seeking a passionate and experienced SENCO Assistant Headteacher to play a pivotal role in shaping our school’s ethos, curriculum, and support systems from the ground up.
The Role
As SENCO Assistant Headteacher, you will:
- Lead on SEND provision across the school, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Work closely with the Headteacher and leadership team to develop inclusive strategies and interventions.
- Oversee EHCP processes, liaise with external agencies, and support staff in delivering high-quality, differentiated teaching.
- Champion the voice of the child and promote a trauma-informed, therapeutic approach to education.
- Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategic planning.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete).
- Proven leadership experience in a SEND or SEMH setting.
- Deep understanding of SEMH needs, trauma-informed practice, and inclusive pedagogy.
- A collaborative, resilient, and compassionate leader who inspires others.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
