Position: Autism Support Assistant (Temp to Perm) 

Location: Secondary School for Autism, Hassocks/Burgess Hill area 

Hours: 08:30 – 16:30 (Term-time only) 

Start Date: September 2024 

Salary: £102.69 per day (temp, with potential for permanent role)

The Role: 

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Autism Support Assistant to work closely with students, helping them access the curriculum, develop social skills, and achieve their potential. Duties include: 

– Providing 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs. 

– Assisting with communication, sensory regulation, and emotional wellbeing. 

– Supporting classroom activities under the guidance of teachers and SENCO. 

– Helping to create a calm, structured, and positive learning environment. 

   Ideal Candidate: 

– Experience supporting autistic individuals (preferably in an educational setting). 

– Patience, adaptability, and a passion for inclusive education. 

– Understanding of autism strategies (e.g., visual supports, positive behaviour approaches). 

– A car is preferred (due to location), but local candidates without transport may be considered. 

– Relevant training (e.g., safeguarding, autism awareness) is desirable but not essential.
