Behaviour Mentor – Primary SEMH School

We are currently recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist SEMH primary school in Haywards Heath, supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young children develop confidence, manage their emotions, and engage positively with learning in a nurturing and therapeutic environment.

The Role:

  • Supporting primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs throughout the school day
  • Building positive, trusting relationships and acting as a consistent role model
  • Using positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation
  • Encouraging engagement with learning, play, and social development
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider pastoral team

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour is desirable
  • Calm, resilient, and confident managing behaviours in a positive way
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential
  • Patient, proactive, and able to build strong relationships
  • Must be a driver with access to a vehicle due to the school’s rural location
