Full Time | 8:30am – 3:30pm | Long‑Term | Start ASAP
Supporting Pupils with Behavioural & Emotional Needs

Are you confident, calm and passionate about helping children navigate big emotions and challenging moments?
Do you thrive in a role where relationship‑building, consistency and patience truly matter?

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Littlehampton is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their support team. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a real difference to children who need extra help with emotional regulation, routines and behaviour.

If you have experience supporting challenging behaviour — in schools, youth work, care, sports coaching or mentoring — this could be the perfect fit.

💛 The Role

As the school’s Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils who need additional emotional and behavioural support throughout the week.

Your role will include:

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with identified pupils
  • Supporting emotional regulation and de‑escalation
  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group behaviour intervention sessions
  • Helping children understand routines, expectations and positive behaviour choices
  • Working alongside the SENCO, class teachers and pastoral team
  • Supporting transitions between activities and calming dysregulation
  • Encouraging resilience, confidence and positive self‑esteem

You’ll be a consistent, supportive presence throughout the school day — someone the children can rely on.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting behaviour or SEMH (essential)
  • Confidence with de‑escalation and emotional regulation strategies
  • A calm, patient and firm‑but‑fair approach
  • Strong relationship‑building skills
  • Resilience, empathy and great communication
  • Someone who can be a positive role model to pupils who need consistency

🏫 Why This School?

  • Warm and supportive leadership team
  • Friendly staff who work collaboratively
  • A nurturing school ethos focused on wellbeing and inclusion
  • Opportunities for training and development
  • A rewarding role making a tangible difference to young lives
